How to think like a champion

First of all, its important to realise, that any reasons you may have for not moving forward or taking action all have one thing in common. They are all just thoughts and thoughts aren’t real. Thoughts are just biochemical packets in your brain. They only become ‘real’ when you start to believe them, invest in them and reinforce them with repetitive thinking. Lets look at the dictionary definition of a belief:


An acceptance that something exists or is true, especially one without proof.


It may be that you have accepted (unconsciously or consciously,) that something is true based on what you have imagined rather than things you actually know as fact. We assume things, we try to predict things, we try to read the minds of others and we try to map out the world so we feel coherent and certain. Remember this because this is very important:


The map is not the territory, the menu is not the food, jin other words just because you think it, don’t make it necessarily so. You have to test your ideas in reality and you have to find out for yourself.


Maps can be and often are updated just as your beliefs and thoughts can be. Now in the world of science beliefs and theories are changed and updated according to the best evidence available at the time. Science is built on trial and error. Success stories are built on trial and error also. To be a champion you must take consistent action and learn from your mistakes. You have to learn quicker than the competition and that means making more mistakes than the next person doesn’t it?


I’d like you to consider this: You aren’t the voice in your head, you’re the person that hears it. Think about that for a moment. Once you begin to understand that, you can start to recognise habitual patterns of thought, and then you might decide to choose thoughts that serve you better. Maybe then you’ll discover that discipline is doing the right things no matter how you feel or what you’re thinking. I invite you to accept this into your heart: “You are more than your thoughts and you are more than your feelings.”


A champion keeps his eye on the prize and understands that there is no failure, there is only feedback. There is no rejection just redirection. You either win or you learn. Makes logical sense doesn’t it? A champ realises that a skilled sailor isn’t made on smooth seas. A champion develops resilience and ploughs forward.


You may have heard this before: “If you keep doing what you have always done, then you will keep on getting what you have always got.” That means you have to change how you think and behave to get different results. That will take energy, it will take discipline and it will feel weird at first because it is not what you normally do. But if you do it enough the awkward feeling goes away and it becomes your new normal. This is how you grow, this is how you change, this is how your life changes. Think of it like dressing in new clothes in a style you’re not used to. At first you may not like these clothes, but later you get comfortable in them and you see that they are cooler than what you were wearing before. It not that unusual to change your style is it?


Last thing, be careful what you believe. What you believe affects how you think , and this affects how you feel. Now you can become successful even if you don’t imagine you can be, as long as you’re taking the right actions. I don’t think there’s a rule here. But statistically Im willing to bet that those that believe in themselves tend to do better than those that don’t. This is because negative emotions are like applying the brakes on the car and they’re just going to slow you down. Is it not wiser to release those brakes?


If you believe in yourself you’re likely to have more resilience, less internal resistance and are less likely to give up at the first sign of trouble. Usually if a person doesn’t expect a good outcome they don’t bother making the effort, which is a shame because the expectation isn’t ‘real.’ Let me remind you, “the expectation is just a thought.”

So choose your thoughts and beliefs wisely and take action. Nothing beats just taking action and combining that with hypnosis just takes things to the next level.
